Party chief drags Ganduje to court and calls for his dismissal

The President of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has been hauled before a Federal Capital Territory High Court of Justice for allegedly illegally remaining in office as President of the party.

Along with Ganduje, APC, the APC National Executive Committee and the APC National Labor Committee were also joined in the suit as defendants.

The plaintiff, Mohammed Saidu Etsu, a former contender for the party’s national presidency, is asking the court for an order restraining Ganduje. Parade himself as president of the party.

He is also asking the court for an order.

In the suit marked CV/2258/CS/2024, the plaintiff asked the court to annul Ganduje’s appointment as party president.

He also asked the court for the following reliefs: A Declaration that under Article 7 (ix) and (x) of the APC Constitution, the APC is obliged to promote and defend the practice of internal democracy at all levels of the Party Organization and institutionalize, maintain and encourage representative democracy, discipline and strict observance of the rule of law in the Federation of Nigeria.

A Declaration that the 3rd Respondent failed, refused or failed to comply with the procedure set out in Article 31.5 of the APC constitution (supra) in the replacement of Senator Abdullahi Adamu with Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as National President of APC on August 27, 2023;

An order quashing the appointment of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje by respondent 3™️ as National Chairman of the APC on August 3, 2023 on the ground that respondent 3™️ failed, refused or failed to comply with the procedure laid down in Article 31.5 of the APC Constitution (supra);

A Declaration that the National Executive Committee of the APC does not have even a modicum of power to appoint Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on August 3, 2023 as the National Chairman of the Party;

A court order restraining Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from parading, representing or presenting himself as the National President of the APC in any form or appearance whatsoever;

A court order restraining or prohibiting Or Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from chairing the National Executive and National Working Committees respectively or any other body of the APC;
