UK voters appear set to punish ruling Tories in local elections

NORTHALLERTON, England – As local election results in England and Wales were tallied on Friday, they painted a bleak picture for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s ruling Conservative Party and its prospects of staying in power this year.

The Conservatives lost seat after seat on city councils, while the opposition Labor Party finished strong, taking away votes in areas once considered Conservative strongholds.
