Two men have been arrested following a confrontation with police in central Auckland.

At least a dozen armed police officers responded to reports of a person with a firearm entering a building on the city’s Hobson Street.

Police were at the Goodview Apartment Hotel on Hobson Street but said there was no danger to the public.

They said the public would see an increased police presence in the area.

In March, armed police responded to the same building after receiving reports of a weapons sighting.
